Featured Artist: Marie Sander
Marie Sander has long been active in Milwaukee music circles, performing as a substitute flutist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra and the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra. She has also performed with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and the Green Bay Symphony. Ms. Sander is an original member of Present Music, one of the leading contemporary music groups in the United States. With Present Music she has performed in Japan, Turkey and China, as well as throughout the United States.
Ms. Sander was a featured soloist for the John Downey Music Festival in London, England, performing on flute, alto flute and bass flute. She has appeared as a guest artist on Wisconsin Public Radio and has commissioned and recorded pieces for solo flute and flute and piano. She can be heard in recordings with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Present Music, and contemporary composers.
Ms. Sander holds a master's degree in flute performance. In addition to teaching at her private studio and Concordia University, she is an active recitalist and enjoys creating programs for a variety of audiences.
